Contempt
With wintertime
And glaciated nature
Foments frustration, misery,
Anguish.
Snowfall:
Quiet prison.
Electric lighting dies.
Crackling fireplace thwarts darkness’s
Power.
Burning
Logs disappear.
Crescive inner maelstrom
Assembles monsters in shadows.
Scared.
Escape
Winter’s fury!
Frostbitten fingers, toes.
Neighbor’s candlelight so cruelly…
Distant.
Contempt
Quiet prison
Crescive inner maelstrom
Only forgiveness comforts the
Distant.

This was written for Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday #120 – Cold and Storm. Without a doubt, this is the hardest poem I’ve written yet – whew!
Also, something I am proud of – I took the picture!
Bravo!!
Thanks!
