The Spider’s Party – #Cinquain

Hungry trapper
Prepares for visitors
To… “enjoy” macabre banqueting
And shows.
Visitors avoid her abode,
Fearing glistening fangs,
Vicious poison,

This was written for Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday #139, in which we get to choose our words! I took the above photo on my morning dog walk. It was a misty, foggy morning, and the spider’s web in my neighbors’ tree had a lot of dew on it. I’m not a terribly good photographer, so I couldn’t get the web to show up better!

It’s never an easy shot. I’ve found spiders aren’t especially obliging when it comes to where they spin their webs. Really needs a dark background. But when I do find the dark background, that background isn’t exactly picturesque. So, what I’m saying is that’s a good photo. Considering the perversity of spiders

I have some of those big webs too! They are beautiful. One has a grasp on one of my bird feeders. I think though a strong wind might take it down. There was one like the one in your photo on my outside clothes line… but I didn’t get a chance to ‘capture it’. You have to have the right angle to catch that netted web!
