IMPORTANT NOTICE: I am currently closed to beta reading requests. Beta reading is dear to my heart and I do plan on re-opening this year, but I cannot currently fulfill any obligations to read, evaluate, and make suggestions for your book.
I read at least 3 books a month, and 4 months of the year are dedicated to “Indie” books. At the moment, my 2020 slots are filled, but I am open for several 2021 slots. Once those slots are filled, I can take more books but do not guarantee a blog post. Recent increases in the number of requests may mean an unfortunate delay in turnaround time, as well.
I also reserve the right to not read your book. If you want to know what sorts of books I’m looking for and what sorts of books I’m never going to read, you can go to my
What I Return
I will be truthful no matter what, but if I don’t like your book, I will send you an email beforehand and refrain from posting anything on my blog, Goodreads, or Amazon unless requested otherwise. I will mark any book as “read” on Goodreads, but I will not make a review of an indie book unless it’s 4 or 5 stars. Since I can’t necessarily contact unsolicited reads, indie books that I find on my own are not subject to these strictures and may be reviewed like any other book on my blog, but I will only do 4 or 5 star reviews on Goodreads or Amazon for those. If I like your book, I won’t ask if it’s ok to publish and will put it on any site I wish. I will also rate on Amazon and Goodreads.
Lastly, if your book has 20+ reviews, I will rate on Amazon or Goodreads regardless of the rating. This is because you’ve already gained a bit of cushion, and sometimes a bad review is just as good as a good review to have for your book once you’ve gotten far enough. Below 20 reviews, it’s like a kick while you’re down, which is why I make this distinction.
